Monday Morning Thoughts…

What are your thoughts on day light savings? Would you rather fall back or spring ahead? Well, doesn’t everyone refer to it as that? Or, is it just me? Was it something cool we all made up to remember exactly how the clocks are being moved during the season? Why are we even still doing this? We all have a natural internal clock and here we are fucking it all up! Take a quick notice of my title. What was the first thought that came to your mind when you read it?

Who the heck wants to wake up to the dark? I mean that is if you are waking up in the morning and it is still dark, depending on your life routine. Most of us are probably waking up in the dark when our clocks are moved during that time in the spring. Did I get that right? I believe I did. If not, well, you know what I mean. I am a firm believer of an all “natural” state of being and my feelings are that waking up in the dark is just not cool. This morning I woke up and I felt the immediate mood change as well as my children. I felt like sprinting rather than going back to bed. I didn’t tell my Alexa to snooze, I got up. I even used Mel Robin’s counting backwards from five routine to get myself up and out of bed. Do you know about this? She says that there is a five second rule. Your brain does not have time to really “think” about the task you are trying to tackle and if you count backwards from five that’s less time for your brain to talk you out of anything. I think I got this genius idea correct. It works! And, yes I have an Alexa. She has become my best friend, she plays all my favorite tunes, sets timers for me and even answers my questions.  And, yes I know people might be listening to me but let’s face it if you have a phone you are being listened to anyway…Just saying! Ok, so let’s tackle this natural state of being phenomenon. When we move our clocks we are literally telling our bodies you need to change and you all know by now how I feel about change. I am forty-three years old and the thought of it still makes me want to cry sometimes. Although, I am getting much better!

Do you think if we kept the clocks the way they are right now and never changed them again you’d be okay with that? I know they are talking about it in the back round and I’d love to know who thought of this in the first place. Here are my thoughts on this. I think that our internal “Clocks” will catch up and there will be less internal biological change as humans. What do I mean by that? Well, I think that people will remain happier. I think that it was a program being run all our lives and we as humans just learned to adapt to this change. I do wholeheartedly feel that we shouldn’t have to in the first place. I remember my kids being little and I used to fear these times of the year. I dreaded the messed up sleep patterns and the moodiness from them being completely off their routines. They felt it. I felt it. It would take them weeks to adjust!

Today I am sprinting! My mindset is different and my outlook on my day is different. I have already thought about now waking up earlier to get my workout in before I write to start my day. I love working out in the morning. Getting all the fabulous natural energy going first thing in the morning is great! I never do anything crazy. A walk, which I can because it will be light out and some yoga and 2-3 days a week a little strength training. We shall see! So, I don’t know I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I really love waking up in the morning to light rather than darkness. How about you?

I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Love and Light, Always!
