If you read A Small Town Girl, you are in the right place and you know how the story ended. Here we are, a sequel to the beautiful journey of a widowed Mama who picked up and started a new life elsewhere. Every synchronicity she encountered brought her closer to home after living a life filled with purpose, dreams she had fulfilled and experiences to last a lifetime, which she has passed on to her children. It is her daughter carrying on her vision for many more generations to come…

The Light That Followed

Saying goodbye was never easy. Mama always taught us to keep the memories alive and keep those we love close to our hearts. Her legacy will live on and with us forever. I can still smell her elegance and grace every single time we went back home-to OUR home. The home that will never be the same, but will never be forgotten either. We decided to keep the house and when it wasn’t being rented out we gathered there for weekend getaways and holiday gatherings. We shared stories growing up with all the grands and they loved every second of it! Mama kept the house just the way we all loved it as it became well known by all the renters too…a little beach and a whole lot of country was always her theme. One thing was always for sure, you never wanted to leave either part of what was felt the moment you arrived.

There was still some paperwork that needed to be tended to. Being the only daughter, I decided to take it all on. I knew she didn’t want to leave anything to anyone. It was just the way she was. She never wanted help and she always denied being knocked down. She just kept going. Everything in life was an experience that moved us forward. We never understood how she did it-she just did. I wish she gave herself as much credit in life as we all saw her, as everyone saw her. There was a mystical mysterious way about her, always. Her smile captured an audience and her laugh was heard from a million galaxies away. There are times that I sit out back in her rocking chair with my coffee  and look up and I know there are many stars shining above in her honor and light. If I could pick just one it would be the brightest one of them all. That is how everyone remembered her. Where and when there was darkness there was always light when she was around.

There was something magical about this town. I get the same feeling as I always did, even as a child. To be able to pass this on to my own children is a blessing. I remember each day like it was yesterday. Each moment like it was the last and each breathe I take here- it’s like I am back here as a kid all over again. Just as I was thinking about taking a walk down to the lake all the kids came running outside and asked if we can do just that. “Sure”, I said, Let’s go! As we were walking down the path to the lake we saw him. There he was. He stood there in the wake of our vision. As still as could be. It was almost as if it were a reminder that he will always be there, guiding us, just as Mama wanted. There was a softness about him. She wanted us to always feel her presence and never let go of anything that she instilled in us. The experiences she helped us unravel, the paths we always took and the guidance she had always given us. Now, she is guiding us, but in a very different way. The kind of guidance that was learned and embedded deep within our souls. Vishnu was reminding us of everything in this moment. We just stood there in a moment that will carry us through each day and bring us all the peace we know she would want us to have.

The path that lead us to the lake hasn’t changed. Everything looked the same. The smell, the sounds, the never-ending lengths of winding graveled paths unwinding into one. The ONE. The path that we all remember the same, even all these years later. I never understood the magic involved until now, it was the kind of understanding that you felt in your soul. Even if you have never been there before, you trusted that you were, you just knew. The lake was magical. It was a portal of energy that captivated you and brought you back in time. Timelines intersecting and unraveling past memories that felt real, so real that you never knew the difference.

Until next time…
