I’m forty-three, I have five kids and I think I look fabulous! I feel even more fabulous knowing this detail about myself and I’ll shout it from the roof tops of Manhattan if need be.

Not according to my endocrinologist. According to him I am obese. Why? Because he is still going by that stupid BMI chart that basically categorizes you on a scale of a statistic. Just like the grades my kids are still categorized by in school.
I have a little Momma secret. I do not give a fuck about the grades my kids bring home. You will also never come into my home and see their grades on my refrigerator. Every single one of my kids are expected to do their best and meet their own standards of what their grades or anything else in their lives should look like.
Our standards need to change. There are children who study and try their best and either fail or just pass. Those children should not be de-moralized. I have a couple of children here in my home, myself being one of them as a student. I struggled so badly in school that it was the reason I hated it so much.
I fired my endocrinologist because I was going there with perfect blood work results, no cancer in my neck for three years in a row and he was still telling me that I was obese. Are you kidding me, Dude?! I look awesome, I feel great and guess what?! My blood work is proof that I am healthy. I work hard to be healthy, just like my kids do in school and sometimes still come home with a shitty number that means absolutely nothing. They do their best. Even the ones that try their best and don’t do as well as the grade grid say’s they should be. Be proud of their accomplishments. Help them be proud of their accomplishments. Sometimes the greatest accomplishment for an individual is showing up and simply doing their best.
We need to do better. We need to start saying good-bye to the statistics. We are humans, we are not a statistic. There are many kids out there that will do just fine in life without being demoralized, actually they will be better than fine. They came here to change the world. I see this happening right now, right before all of our eyes. Many kids are finding new ways to beat the system and all the programs that have been run. There are many adults who are as well, myself being one of them and I think it’s truly amazing.
The programs that have been run need to stop. Stand up for what you believe in. What makes you happy and most important; What makes you, YOU!

Yes! I think we are getting there….slowly but surely things are changing. These kids nowadays get it. They won’t stand for it anymore.
I am seeing a lot of changes happening! Slowly but surely is right. Systems and programs are certainly breaking down.
